How do I keep my dog from yanking on her leash?

I have tried everything possible, that I can get my hands on. She is a puller,yanker,tugger, and almost a dragger. I love my dog and started working with her at a yougn age. I feel so stupid to be dragged around by my dog at the park. She is a large dog. Black Labrador Retriever X Golden Retriever. She is very likeable, and sweet. But she has this side, when she wants to smell somthing, she drags! Drags! My arm hurts like crazy. Then I end up getting frustrated with her. So we bougth her a non-pokey choker chain. Which made me feel mad, it worked. For a day. Then we tried one that our friends had with prongs that she said was 100% safe. (She is realy into petcare products.) Snickers(my dog)broke it! Help?

I also have a lab, and he pulls like crazy.. well he used to. we got him a halty collar (i thinks thats how you spell it). it looks like a muzzle, but its not. it goes around the dog's nose and clips on, and you just attach it to the leash. it somehow reduces the dragging and pulling. trust me, it works very well! Lucky used to take me for a walk, but ever since we got the halty collar we never had a problem. good luck with Snickers!
